Touro College

(the following is accurate to the best of our knowledge; please bring any errata to our attention)

Touro College has many undergraduate and graduate divisions, some of which cater exclusively to frum Jews:

  • Lander College for the Arts and Sciences in Flatbush

    • Separate men and women divisions

    • Evening classes, only, two days a week, only

  • Lander College for Women/Men in Manhattan/Queens

    • Divisions exclusively for men/women

    • Daytime classes

    • Judaic Studies

    • Small classes and more individualized attention (LCW)

    • Psychology, biology are most popular majors with a large percentage of students in the pre-health sciences. Great feedback on Political Science, English Literature, and Accounting departments (LCW)

  • Machon L’Parnasa

  • School for Lifelong Education

They do accept transfer credits from various places. For yeshiva credits, they only accept 6 credits for each semester post high school up to 48 credits. (Unless you are in accounting. This is specific to LAS in Flatbush)

They require a high school diploma or equivalency (GED) to begin.  The SAT is not required but scholarships often depend on scores. To see information on which CLEPs, APs and other college-level courses are transferable, see their website.

Typically, obtaining a degree takes students 2-4 years, depending on how many credits they start with. Typically they accept up to 36 credits from seminary/yeshiva, depending on the program and whether or not credits were earned through the “Touro College Israel Option”.

Tuition:

Depending on the campus, typically Touro tuition costs approximately 12-18K per year.
